Have a chrome, W10 explorer and a game open:

If media keys are on and want to change (mx keys s kb) to use F-keys to quick save/load a game, it doesn't work. Instead when you press Fn+esc, it just changes the active tab: chrome... explorer... game... chrome... so I must close the game first and press Fn+ Esc again to change between media/F-keys. Bad idea to put volume keys behind Fn-switching . Should use separate keys.
