Just like the regular Logitech MX keyboard you put a setting where you can keep the backlights on. But the MX Mechanical keyboard does not. It would be great if the keyboard would not turn off the backlight, because when you type you have breaks in between thoughts and in that break the backlights turn off so when you want to continue typing in the dark you cant see the keys before you type, so you have to purposely move your hand for it to light up again and then you can see where to type.
