Please use the system shortcuts for the different functions. I change deskstop switching from the Ctrl+Left and Right arrow to Ctrl+Opt+Cmd+arrows, so I can use Ctrl+arrows to skip words in my Windows remote and VM sessions. Unfortunately your system uses the default and not "real", the system-configured keyboard shortcuts to initiate actions, so anything I have changed stops working. Other possibility would be I think to ask Accessibility permissions and just kick things around directly. Feel free to send me stuff to try, I have 3 Macs, and I am C++ guy so not afraid of crashes ;)
