MX Keys for Mac - Media playback functions.
The Good:
I have enjoyed my MX keys for Mac and the Options software. After trying many cheaper keyboards, I was happy to finally find a good quality keyboard with great battery life and so many great features and customization options. My Co-workers have also purchased the MX Keys for Mac based on my recommendation, and they have been enjoying it as well.
The Bad:
The only issue I am having is with the media play back keys, specifically F7 and F9. I use the MX keyboard for work, most of the day I am transcribing Quicktime audio files into text on another program. On my MacBook keyboard I am able to Rewind, Play/pause, and fast forward using the F7, F8, and F9 keys. However on my MX Keyboard, the F8 functions as it should, but I am unable to rewind or fast forward using F7 and F9, which has significantly decreased my efficiency and speed when transcribing audio files. On my MacBook keyboard F7 is “Rewind” by default, and F9 is “Fast Forward” by default. While on the MX Keys for Mac, F7 is “Previous” by default and F9 is “Next” by default. On the Options software there is no Rewind or Fast Forward actions on the available actions list, so I am unable to fix the issue through the Options software. I downloaded the Options+ Beta hoping that the Rewind and Fast Forward actions would be added to the programmable actions list, but they are not as of yet. I believe if the Rewind/ Fast Forward actions are added to the Options+ software, the MX Keys for Mac would go from being a great keyboard for Mac to being a perfect keyboard for Mac. This is the only Con I have found for the MX Keys for Mac, and it is disappointing because I have not experienced this issue before, even on the cheaper/ lower quality keyboards I have used previously. Is there any chance that the Rewind/ Fast Forward actions be added to the Options+ software at any point in the future?
